Ankeny, Iowa …go try Nonna’s! If you’re anywhere near the Des Moines area, it’s worth the drive to Ankeny for Nonna’s. The moment we walked in, it felt welcoming, and the food was genuinely delicious. I’m picky about pasta, but this was fresh, flavorful, and so well done. My husband and I both ordered the Penne Vodka, he added crispy chicken, and I went with grilled chicken (so good). The portions were huge… honestly, we could have shared one plate. Our girls ordered the kids’ chicken Alfredo, and even those servings were generous. The calamari was fried perfectly, the bread was heavenly, and everything tasted made with care. Just go try them, you won’t be disappointed.

There’s good and then there is great!! My 12 year old said it deserved a 6 Star rating! Nonna’s was better than we could have even imagined. From the moment we walked through the door, we were greeted, welcomed, and taken care of. We tried pizza, tortellini soup, and meatballs. Our dinner even came with garlic bread which was a nice surprise. Everything was wonderful. The staff was more than incredible and very grateful for our business. We will definitely be back. What a fantastic experience!

We stopped in Ankeny on our way to Colorado and thought Nonna’s sounded amazing. And it was! It was busy when we got there and I was a little worried we’d have a long wait, but we didn’t at all. The employees were incredibly friendly and the food was great- I forgot to get a picture until we were mostly done, but you get the point. The portions were big and delicious! The pepperoni was great, but I’d love to go back and try one of their more unique pizzas. Hope to see you again, Nonna’s!
